N.S.W. state election 2015 - APTNSW policies

10 minute frequencies on rail lines

It is a tried and tested mantra of public transport networks the world over - "frequency is freedom". The more services that are provided, the more choices available to the traveller, the more likely it is they will choose public transport. Even in NSW frequency of service has been a big part of public transport success stories (e.g. Metrobus network). Remarkably, in 2015 there are still parts of the Sydney Trains network where services are as infrequent as once an hour on weekdays (Carlingford line) and twice an hour on weekends (Western line).

APTNSW calls on NSW election candidates to commit to a minimum frequency of ten minutes all day, seven days per week on the Sydney Trans network and 20 minute frequencies on NSW Trainlink intercity services. We also call on candidates to commit to increased bus services to and from railway stations.
