Sydney Theatre have opened a season of The Permanent Way by David Hare.

"The railways have come to be seen as a symbol of Britain. In 1991, the government made the fateful decision to privatise them. Fourteen years later the industry is subsidised more lavishly than ever and Britain is dealing with a succession of rail crashes that have scarred the national psyche."
