Call for Submissions to IPART Fare Review

posted Monday 6 June 2005
The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales (IPART) placed advertisements in daily newspapers on 1st June 2005 calling for public submissions to a review of bus and ferry fares.

IPART has also requested submissions from the Ministry of Transport, State Transit Authority, Sydney Ferries, the Bus and Coach Association and Charter Vessel Association by 1 July 2005. These will be available on the Tribunal’s website from 4 July 2005.

The Tribunal invites submissions from other stakeholders and interested parties. To allow full consideration of the pricing proposals and information submitted by the agencies, submissions from other stakeholders will be required by 15 August 2005.

Submissions should be sent to IPART at PO Box Q290, QVB Post Office, NSW 1230 or in electronic format to ipart@ipart.nsw.gov.au clearly marked to refer the review of bus and ferry fares.

Public hearings will be held during October 2005 after release of a draft report by the Tribunal. The hearings will be held at the Tribunal’s offices. The dates and times of the hearings will be advised at a later date on the Tribunal’s website.

Any changes to fares would probably apply from around December 2005.

Questions or enquiries regarding the Tribunal’s review should be directed to Dr Dennis Mahoney, Program Manager Transport, on 9290-8494.

APT encourages you to make a submission to IPART on any matter relating to fares and tickets. It doesn't have to be long and scholarly - a couple of paragraphs will do. Note that the review does not cover rail fares, but if you think that rail fares are relevant to your argument, then they should be mentioned.
