Free Lecture - Walking, Cycling, Public Health - Tues 25 Oct. 2005

John Pucher, visiting professor at Sydney University's Institute of Transport Studies will talk about the importance of walking and cycling to the nation’s public health and how these modes can be made safer, more convenient and more feasible. Being an enthusiastic supporter of public transport, Prof. Pucher will also demonstrate the crucial links between all these modes of transport.

Prof. Pucher will reveal examples of best practice from his recent experience of living in Europe, and some interesting examples of successes in Canada and California. He will also discuss the public health impacts of car-dependence, in the USA, Australia, and specifically, New South Wales.
