High quality access and convenient transport will play a major part in the success or otherwise of these strategies. That said, APTNSW declined to participate in the development of earlier strategies in other subregions because we were not convinced that the strategies were sound from a transport point of view. Specifically, the benefits claimed from improved bus corridor development seemed to be largely offset by simultaneous roads expansion.
We will closely scrutinise these latest plans. Submissions from the public are invited, closing 5 September 2008.
