Commuter Council rejects Penrith to City "Fast Train"
posted Saturday 16 August 2008
We have received the following email from the Commuter Council -
"The NSW Commuter Council supports the NSW Government rejection of the Penrith to City fast train project on the following grounds:
- Separate path and stations would undermine expansion and integration of the existing system.
- The $3 extra fare loading equates to a cost of $30 for 5 weekly return journeys.
- The private airport stations alone add $20 for a return trip and went into receivership 6 months after opening.
- The government claims there is a $2.5 Billion hole in the proposal supports concerns regarding actual travel costs.
