Victoria Road "Upgrade" - Wrap-up of public deception by RTA

For months, APT has been endeavouring to sum up the fiasco which the Roads & Traffic Authority called its "Victoria Road Upgrade". The RTA promoted the scheme as a means of improving bus services. It brazenly ignored the fact that the project involved increasing the road's peak carrying capacity for ordinary vehicles by fifty per cent!

During months of community "consultation", the RTA also omitted to tell the community that back in November 2007 it had already let an "alliance contract" to build a second bridge over Iron Cove.

At one stage, the very same project was suddenly re-named the "Inner West Busway".
