What "Environmental Management" really means

APT received an invitation to the Environmental Management in Transport Summit 2011, organised by Informa. The advertised description of one of the sessions, entitled The Social Environment, confirms one's worst fears about the real purpose of public consultation. We quote:-

Developing a strong and productive relationship with the community

...
When the community strongly opposes a project - Examples of controversial projects and the techniques deployed to deal with community anguish
...
...

There is not the slightest hint of modifying the project to accord with community views.
