NEWS RELEASE: Agents' Stocks Of Bus Tickets Not Replenished

posted Monday 31 December 2012
A transport consumer group says that many bus passengers have been unable to buy prepaid tickets from local outlets because of alleged poor service delivery by State Transit suppliers.

Allan Miles, secretary of Action for Public Transport (APT), said that agents had complained that tickets ordered on Christmas Eve still have not been delivered. "Some agents have been trying to buy tickets from other agents," he said.

"Despite the holiday period, prepaid tickets are still required on many routes on the normal working days during that time," he said. "This includes the Pensioner Excursion Tickets," he said.

"Non-delivery of tickets to agents affects both passengers and agents," he said. "Passengers could be denied entry to a bus at certain times and locations, and agents lose business."

Mr Miles said that he has had difficulty buying PETs at two local agents. "This has nothing to do with stocking up before the price rise next week," Mr Miles said. "The price of the PET will remain at $2.50."
