Report to members - year ended 30 September 2019
In the period from October 2018 to 30 September 2019, APTNSW took every opportunity to bring attention to the benefits of better public transport for the residents of NSW.
Campaigning
We continued to lend our support to the many groups pointing out the folly of continued spending on urban motorways like Westconnex. We took the opportunity offered by the Federal Election for the seat of Warringah to campaign for a rail connection to the northern beaches instead of the proposed Beaches Link Tollway. We lodged this display advertisement in the Manly Daily issue dated 8 May 2019.

In the pipeline
The Federal House of Representatives' Standing Committee on Infrastructure, Transport and Cities is conducting an Inquiry into options for financing faster rail. The committee invites interested persons and organisations to make submissions addressing the terms of reference, to be received by Friday, 6 December 2019.
We expect considerable interest in the Inquiry in the coming year. This Inquiry follows on from the Committee's earlier Inquiries into the Australian Government's role in the development of cities and the role of transport connectivity in stimulating development and economic activity. The Committee's reports can be seen at:
APTNSW's submission to the Committee's Inquiry into the Australian Government's role in the development of cities can be accessed here where it is numbered 76.
Our submission on the Committee's Inquiry into the role of transport connectivity in stimulating development and economic activity can be accessed here where it is submission No 60.
